Looking for best chiller for 24g aquapod

I am looking to buy a new chiller for my 24g aquapod with 150w metal halide, CPR hang on refugium/protein 3gallons, with maxijet 1200 for the return pump, one rio600 for the refugium/PS, and one hydor #2 wavemaker. Jbj says I need a 1/10hp chiller for my setup. what do you think about that?
I'm looking to pay $400 or less
anyone got links for a good chiller?

your anthia should be put into a bigger tank than a nano....but that is only my two cents...

My anthias is totally happy. I am trying to get him out of my tank so I can add something smaller. He eats like it's his last meal.

How hot is your tank running? I have a 250 watt HQI on my BioCube 29 and my temp never goes above 79 (with a fan blowing across the surface). The fan was $10 at Home Depot. Much cheaper to buy and run than a chiller.

My tank is stable at 78f but if an emergency happened like the ac unit quit working it would be very little short before I go up to 80-85degrees.
I plan on buying an gas generator in case the electric goes out.
I would be able to sleep better knowing I got a backup plan. That's just me

Good point about the A/C. I do worry about possible power outages but haven't worried that my A/C may go out. Thanks for making me more paranoid now! :)
(my guess is both A/C units won't die at the same time)

ya i would get some fans first and try that it will get u a coulple of degrees down. i would get a generator before a chiller just my two cents

i have a 250 hqi pendant hanging over my 12g nano(i now its a little over kill)and i have a fan blowing on it and the temp is at 80 most of the time and sometimes 81 but is good for the most part.

Buy a fan now, put two 2-liter bottles filled with water in the freezer, and buy a generator next.

You can cool the tank with the frozen two liter bottles if you get in a pinch.

Of course, if the a/c went out and heat was a factor, I'd turn off the lights and anything extra that dumps heat into the tank. Then I'd remove the top and point a fan at the surface of the water, making sure to top off every few hours to keep salinity stable.

The chiller just seems like overkill for a nano to me. Then again, in almost 10 years of this hobby, I've never used a chiller. So take that with a grain of salt.
