Looking for a "nano mentor"

I have been out of the hobby for a few years and really miss it! So, I have decided to get back in to the hobby with a nano of some kind. I am looking at a 24G JBJ or something similar. I just need a few words of advice on what to get, additional equipment, etc.

I am going to do this slowly and go piece by piece due to budget stuff.

Anyone interested in helping?

Decide on what you specifically want to keep livestock-wise before deciding on the tank/lighting system is my first suggestion.

Brand wise, I would recommend Aquapod so you can control, with timers the lighting system individually. After experiencing BioCube, JBJ and Aquapod brands, I would always recommend Aquapod for the extra $20 I believe it runs over the competitors.

I have a number of JBJ - and will second the recommendation for the AquaPod with MH lighting. Bit more expensive but you aren't stuck with the hood and limited lighting options.h

Thanks for the replies!

What I am looking for is the ability to keep a few fish, maybe a pair of clowns or something. I am a zoanthid fan, and I would not mind being able to keep a few soft or hard corals....nothing elaborate.

My question is this....if I get one of the "all in one" setups, do it need to modify it for a skimmer, etc, in order to do what I want? OR, do they have something that acts as a built in skimmer?

The new skimmers by sapphire aquatics require no modification! They now offer a pink model that some of the proceeds go to breast cancer awareness. I love his skimmers!! If you dont plan on going hard core corals, i think that any of the AIO(all in one) nanos would work for you.

Ok...I am looking around for the Aquapod 24G. I found a Current Fission Nana Skimmer online. Can that be used? Does it just hang on the back...and, does the aquapod have a place for water to pump in and out of the tank?

the work, but i prefer the sapphire aquatics model alot more!! If you ever surf nanoreefs.com it seems that everyone there prefers to use the sapphire aquatics model better too!! Here is a pic of mine in my bio-cube 14.(i had to trim the nano abit to make it fit, the new models do not any modification.
