Look what I found...

Well looks like my bangi cardinals have been busy. We found three babies in my sump. Crazy that they are this big Id say 1/2" long. Any ideas on how old they may be??

I guess these three somehow escaped being eaten via the overflow water slide and somehow avoided the skimmer pump....crazy.

I shut off the return after finding them and dropped some frozen rotifers in there. Looked like they were eating but its hard to tell...

Well if you get one that looks like female I am looking for a female or two. They are born at 1/4" live babies so maybe a couple weeks old. First couple months they have a lot of growth then slows.

You will have to wait till they are a little bigger. But if you look at the ones in your display they will have a little v or double v right between the back bottom fins. Here is a link with pics that explains it better.

I would say they are a couple days old. I've raised close to 100 of them and unless you are feeding them daily they won't be there long.

Update. Haven't spot fed them anything at all but I do put Cyclops, Rotifers, and Plankton in with the fish food.

That's pretty awesome. I remember when I had my first batch of baby cardinals, and they were so much fun to look at and watch grow. Congrats, they look like they are doing great.

Very cool. As they get older you can get them live brine from The Fish Place at Ridgmar mall. Feed the brine some selcon or phyto over night. I've also taken frozen mysis and shaved them on a fine cheese grater or shave it with a knife. They like that too.
