Live rock vendors

I am in the market for live rock. I am looking for an online vendor. I have purchased fish and corals from liveaquaria in the past with success. I was just wondering if there are any alternative cheaper successful vendors out there? Thanks again for all the help. I appreciate it!!

Most online stores sell liverock. Pacific East sometimes runs a dropship special. You can surf around looking for a sale. But sometimes you get what you pay for.
I'd try calling around locally and buy for a LFS b/c you can see the rock before you buy it. It's worth a little money to see size, shape, color and hitchikers before you buy it.

I purchased all of my live rock from LiveAquaria.com. It was 90lb. tonga and then I got 40 lb Carribean because the 24 lb of tonga rock was shattered. They have great customer service and any rock that you don't like you can ship back to them and they'll credit your card and you can ship it back.

IMO it's worth the money to spend a little more to get service and exactly what you want. Every piece was a show piece with very few pieces under 4 inches.

The picture below doesn't do the rock justice since the water is so cloudy...It has a ton of red, orange, yellow algea all over it. Great colors.

From one newby to another I would just wait.. Some one here always sales it , You just have to jump on it real FAST .. It is like gold..

Also Craigs list has it just search for live rock...

But I will also tell you to be careful.. you have to make sure to get the good stuff .. the more purple the better... and when you go pick it up take water and it should be in water to minimize the die off...

Helps minimize the tank cycle time because you are by passing the cureing stage..

I got about 60 lbs of dead live rock and then I bought about 60 lbs of good live rock to mix the 2 and i find it is cheaper then buying all live rock..

Wow, that rock looks amazing. If that is staple liveaquaria rock then I will def to that way. Tonga is a lot more pricey so I will probably go fiji. Maybe I will split it up to some ratio fiji/tonga because I really love the the way that looks. Is that tonga shelf rock? Thanks agian for your info!

Thanks, I've already started using Purple-Up to put some more algea on there. I will get some Carribean rock today from them. So as soon as I aquascape it i'll post some more pictures showing you what it looks like.

The tonga is 90lbs of show size rock and then there are two pieces of branch tonga.

I lost my link, but theres a website that they've done group buys on. I remember that the front main page is a pale blue background and they have a handful of fish, mostly inverts, seahorses, invert packages, etc. If anyone can pitch in the name I know they have lot purchases directly from the collector (large selection of schtuffs) and have great prices on liverock.

I just got the 40# of Caribbean rock and it's awesome. It was extremely live ... It had sponges all over it and when I put it in saltwater to clean it tons of crabs were dead on it. So once I removed all of the dead debris I put it in my tank. I will aquascape this weekend once my skimmer gets rid of all the additional debris and I'll take pictures.

I'm pretty new to this myself, but my buddy on here (doc2981) recommended this vendor to me and man his stuff was great! Check him out! Let me know if you put an order together...I might want some more as well.

Best of luck!

I LOVE the rock I got from Premium Aquatics. Tons of coraline and I even got a free SPS hitch hiker that survived!
