I've been wondering, can one breed mysis as live food? I've never seen them, say, at a LFS for sale like brine shrimp. Besides having them a fuge, is it just to difficult to breed them? Is it really labor intensive like rotifers?
you dont have to have multiple tanks and really not even that much live rock i have a 75 set up for prolly 5 months was my reef tank till the shark hatched and now it is my preditor tank and dosnt have much live rock at all and wat it dose have is all tonga the refugium just recently started breeding misis all on its own and they breed fast i didnt start noticing them till i moved all of my other live rock and corals and what nots over to my 29 reef. so yeah man that was really hard labor
I think the point is that there's a difference between having them breed in your tank and raising them as live food.
They're cannibals, so you'd end up with a certain amount of adults and juveniles at all times. Even in my 55g refugium, I don't get so many that I could fill up more than one or two cubes of the blister / bubble packs.
I doubt you'd be able to breed enough of them in one tank to be able to fill up a few cubes like you can buy from a LFS. A properly set up rearing operation can.
