Lighting question

[Its time to replace the bulbs in my VHO system and had a question for you guys.

In what combination do most people run their bulbs? In other words 2 50/50 and 2 actinic, etc... When visiting Tranquil Scapes in Arlington, I noticed that they ran 3 actinic and 1 daylight bulb. I did like the look it gave the tank, but didn't know what the long term affects would be on the corals, fish and inverts?

Any help would be appreciated since I will be buying new bulbs today/tomorrow.]

[I run vho's on my 65, 36" two 50/50's and two super actinic 03's. I've used this combination for years and I am able to keep motipora dig and cap with this combo. If I used three super actinic 03's and only one 50/50, I don't think I could keep the montipora. If your just going to keep softies, three of the actinics would be fine and you'll get more coraline growth with the additional actinic.]

[Unless you have specific corals and specific goals in mind, I think it mostly comes down to what is pleasing for you to look at...5000Kish will give you some explosive coral growth, but may not be the best looking light or the best for the colors of the coral...Consider 2, 20K and 2, 10k bulbs...

One advantage to buying local rather then mail order, is you may find a LFS that will not have a problem with you bringing in your fixture (or maybe has some there) and will be willing to work with you on trying some different configs out.]
