lighting question.

I have a sour apple monti, wondering where to place him, I have 2 t5 HO one day and one blue bulb. 29g tank, I put him at the middle and his color was turning from a bright green to a dark brown. any idea on lighting or placements? can't do LED or MH. my birds nest is up top and doing fine though. flow is med where he is. placed him up top but not seeing much improvement.

Well the monti is probably use to more intense light I would try and put it up top until it acclimates to the different light. But you may consider upgrading the light maybe add 2 more bulbs or change to t5s or LEDs with a dimmer that way you can start the LEDs at a low power setting and slowly ramp it up

Could be a nutrient issue. How are your nitrates and phosphates? Are you keeping any other SPS? said:
I got the water tested and it was showing phosphates at 2ppm and nitrate is at 5. did a water change, I do 20% every week and feed once cube a day. So I think that once I get those taken care of then everything will be fine. it's a 29g tank. so I do about 10g for the change, should I just do 5? thanks for the help.

No. I have to cut up the cubes so my fish can eat it. making the food so small it goes through the net. the skimmer I have is a red sea prism. So idk how good that one is. lol

You can thaw it out in a cup and let the food rest at the bottom an pour out the topwater. I don't think the prism is keeping up with the nutrient export in your tank. Are you running a sump or you running it from the tank.
