Lighting for zoanthids

I have decided to keep the zoanthids, mushroom, and possibly ric in my 15g. It is only about 13" deep and 24" long.

I wish I could afford a new fixture but I cannot. Even the retrokits are out of my reach. Is there something else that would suffice? Floodlight, T8, T12? How many watts should I run for these corals given the shallow depth?

Well I had such a good response on this thread I decided to put a 24" 65w Power Compact fixture on the 15g.

This fixture actually allows for an actinic 65w PC bulb also. I finally got a bulb and installed it. I really like how that brings out some colors in the zoanthids. The color seems more concentrated and the tentacles or skirts are shorter than when I had my zoanthids in my 30g long under 192w of PC lighting.

Unfortunately I sold that fixture and now rely on a 28w Power Compact light fixture running one 10,000k bulb.

The zoanthids are doing well as are the palythoas, ricordia, and mushrooms.

I dropped in an orange and a green montipora capricornis. I have never been able to keep these in the higher light tanks.

the PCs arent near enough for the montis. you could add a spiral bulb but you will lose the color until you get them a better light source.
