LEDS

No, you can add a number of other colors to round out the spectrum. I'm using Steve's LEDs. 28 cool white and 28 royal blue. I've added 7 true violet, 2 red, 4 green, and three cyan.

They are not all the same. China made LEDs could come from many different manufacturers. The only thing they have in common is the plastic shell (package as they call it). I recommend finding a reputable dealer. When you say white, you need to be specific. There is cool white, true white, cool white. Best thing is to talk kelvin number. As for blue, you talk nanometer (nm). Blue you want is in the 460sh range.

Hi,
If you are not ready to build your own setup, I would suggest stevesled's for this application if you are able to order his kit with additional spectrum's. There are quite a few folk's here that could either help you build something or build it for you definately under your budget. http://shop.stevesleds.com/Biocube-29-Gallon-LED-retrofit-kit-Oceanic-AND-Coralife-Biocube-29-Gallon-retrofit-kit.htm
