LED ?

I'm planning on taking the plunge into LED's and I have questions. Thinking about getting the PRism AC by Unique LED Lighting. Does anyone have experience with those? The height of my tank is 19'' and was wondering if LED with penetrate all the way down. Also how much par is needed in a fish tank?

Steve from StevesLEDs is scheduled to talk, as I understand it, at the March club meeting. I expect that he will be more than informative. I don't want to miss that!

I tried to research the fixture a bit and answer your question but when I found the product page from the manufacturer it didn't give any important info. There's really no telling without info such as number of LEDs, watts per LED. Optics used ect.

If you can find that info post it up here and we'll let you know.

That's a lot more info than I could find! It looks like it would be enough light... but this is where one of the disadvantages of new technology comes in. I think it would be plenty of par to reach the bottom of your tank, but 3 watt LEDs without optics is right in that range. I know a buddy of mine has an LED light that's similar with the 3w's but it also has 1 wall supplemental and his tank is 22" deep. He gets great light at the bottom... but I'm not sure how much help he's getting from the 1 watt LEDs.

You need around 200 par at the bottom of a tank. How much light overall depends entirely on the corals you want to keep.
