Im looking to switch my lighting over to led. I currently have a 250 watt metal halide and its way too bright and hot. Plus, the bulb just went out so instead of buying new bulbs all the time im wanting led. Anybody have any experience with this fixture. Ive seen a bunch on ebay for sale and i'm leaning towards this one.

not much info here....what size is your tank and what are you trying to grow? If you MHs are to hot (and you must not be growing SPS) then you might have the same problem with LEDs. What bulb is your MH? If you corals are burning then maybe lower them onto the sand bed.

Or instead of china buy one made in TEXAS of all places.

I have been strongly considering this unit. With tax the total cost difference for two is still 300$. I could almost buy 4 from china. One of the main interests for me is that when its time to replace bulbs it will cost me 260$ and for just a little more I could replace my entire lighting system. Still on the fence about jumping from halides that are tried and true to LED.

They are selling for $299 right now , may have some scratches. And there is a 2 yr warranty and you can actually drive it to Ft Worth to get it repaired, and the quality is for superior to any of those made in china.

Yeah that is with the 299 price. Without that the difference is much much more [smilie=wink.gif] I would put these in a canopy so scratches are no concern. The china ones have a warranty as well but for the price they are almost disposable

My only problem is the intensity is too much. None of my acans have taken to it, I have zoas and scoly's in love with these led's but have to slowly bring favias into the light, I have switched my 27G cardiff back to their older ac 150 model and that seems to have helped alot, I am going to use the 250 unit on my 34G solana but start with it about 12" above water and dialed down as those 5 watt crees with their drivers is intense. Just nice to buy american and Texan , I just like the product and design and the owner will build however you want, I did my 250 with 6 white, 6 blue and 6 royal blue, makes a very nice 15K sorta color.

Well I went ahead and ordered a 72 watt cree dimmable fixture from ocreef.com. I hadnt seen that other light that was manufactured here. Hopefully this light will end up doing good. This is my first saltwater set up and there is only a few mushrooms, polyps, and another frag that i'm not sure what it is. My tank is a 35 gallon tall rectangle. Its 20 in long, 18 in deep, and 23 inches tall. Here is a link to the light. I actually ended up paying $219 with free shipping.
