leak

i have a 55 gal. tank thats been up and running for 3 months now with fowlr and this morning i found a leak in the bottom right corner. would i be able to take my livestock out and put it a a huge plastic tub for a couple of days to drain the tank and fix the leak? or would i have to buy a whole new tank?

You need to ascertain for a fact your tank is leaking. Other things can happen that may lead you to believe it is a leak, when really it is water overflowing the lip of the tank, or following down a wire, or siphoning out of a venturi tube on a skimmer.... I've seen lots of things happen over the years.

Now to answer your question: Yes, you can transfer everything into a food-grade (HDPE) container that is water-tight. Then if you want to try to mend your tank, it is possible. Most people tend to replace it with a new one as it is quicker and you have a warranty.

See? That is why I posted not to worry yet.
