Large Tank

Anyone heard good or bad about glasscages.com? I saw them on the internet and thought about purchasing a huge tank from them (5-800 gallons) but I noticed they only had a 30 day warranty on leaks.

I have heard they are very good. You may want them to bring it down with them when they are in Arlington, TX on Feb 17. $3500 dollars for a tank is not that bad.

Never owned one, but did consider them when I got mine, but after reading the reviews over at Reef central - I decided not to.

It's your money and you choose. But at least go to RC and read the reviews from others - some good, some horrible.

I agree with the amount of misses they have had I am not sure i would be willing to spend that type of cash with them.

Visit a few local members that have Glass Cages tanks and check the build quality of them before you make a purchase.

I know someone that had a 150 gallon leak after only 30 days of water in it. All over there brand new floor in their brand new house. 2 million dollar house at that.

I just purchased a 190 gallon tank from them a few months ago. You pretty much get what you pay for & I do not mean that in a bad way.

The tanks are very economical. The down side is that the customer service is not great (but is sufficient), the silicon work is sloppy, the trim is sloppy, the warranty is short and has lots of fine print, I had to look at an empty tank for 3 weeks waiting for the silicon to cure(4 weeks total for tall tanks), and recieving my tank was a pain b/c I meet thier truck in Denton at a truckstop and had to load it with my own help.

All that being said - I would probably buy another tank from them b/c I expected all of that bad stuff when I placed the order. Plus they built my tank exactly how I drew it up for them and it is built like a tank!

Hope that helps you.

my experience was just like James'.

biggest complaint was customer service and the sloppy siliconing. i asked for an exactly 30" tall tank but got a 31" tall. may not seem like a big deal but now my canopy is slightly slanted due to the 2 tanks to the side of it being 30" tall... no one really notices, but I can.

However, would I buy from them again? Yep. Price trumps the few negatives.

There is a post somewhere on this site with pictures of the silicone job on my tank... tried looking for it but failed at that. Not sure if the search function is working here yet, but may want to do a search for posts with my tag on it and the phrase "glasscage".
