i used a lamotte alk tesk kit, but, it is giving me values of 120 instead fo the 8-10 i am used to - how do i convert that?? Thanks.

Use this conversion table... lamotte reads in ppm... 120ppm is roughly 7 dkh.

I found the lamotte alk test kit to be a bit high as well when i used it. In the range of .5 dkh to 1 dkh high... mostly because of the color indicator. So in your case, your dkh would actually be around 6.5 when I was using it.

Others swear by the lamotte, but i found the Elos to be much better.

thanks - that makes me feel a lot better! i am going to test it tomorrow again and see where my kH is at - thanks.

what test kits do you use dave to monitor your levels?? Thanks.

Elos - Alk, Ca, Mg and PO4
API - Nitrates and a few other odds and ends like Ammonia, Nitrite etc.
