korallin question

Ok just got a used/borken c-1502, I dont have the manual, the brass check valve is missing, and the worst part I cant find the instructions anywhere online.

Can anyone please tell me if I got everything right on that picture, and what is the top output on the lid is for?

Also how inportant is the brass check valve? Can I operate without it?

that is the second output for water. i usually keep it closed but when the reactor gets too much CO2 you can open it up to drain CO2 out. Most people actually drip this one very slowly too elimanate CO2 build up but I have found that when you have the unit stabilized that this is not necessarry. You are correct in water input and CO2 input. The water out you have ID'd is what you run into a cup to measure effluent pH..HTH..

Depending on how the unit is hooked up to the regulator would also depend on whether you should run it without the check valve. It should work without it, but you don't want to run it that way *if* you don't have another type (plastic, otherwise) between the reactor and the regulator itself. The back pressure of the water/gas in the reactor *can* push reactor water back into the regulator if there is no check valve between the regulator and the reactor tank itself. They come in varying costs and will last varying amounts of time before they sometimes fail. Get a reasonable check valve and I wouldn't be worried about running it too much... but without it, it's just a mater of time until you possibly ruin a regulator. JMO
