I've decided to wait on getting Vortechs. I thought that I'd already have pretty good amounts of flow from the return and plus, My tank is 100 gallons and if I were to get Vortechs, I'd prefer to get two, but would think that would be a little much for flow.

So I'm going with Koralias for now. How do they hold up? Are they pretty sturdy pumps? I know they can't compare to Vortechs but they seem to be good pumps for the price.

How many would I need and what number pump? I was thinking 2 #3s

Thanks

Thanks for the advice. Yeah I want to keep SPS

Are they pretty good pumps?

I just didn't want to pay almost $1000 for pumps that I'm not too sure about. Yeah, they seem like they are great pumps, but I'll be content with Koralias

i have 2 Korelia #4s and am happy with them. I got those until I get TUNZEs I am also adding 2 modded MJ with mounts. If you have MJs laying around, you can do the famous mod and use those will work good too. But 20.00 for the kit and anothe 20.00 for the magnet mount and that is almost a Korelia #4. I am putting the modded MJ in this weekend, will let you know how they turn out. if it is too much flow for 4 powerheads, I may tinker around with the number of powerheads and locations and see what I like.

I have a #3 and a #2 in my 72gallon bowfront and they work great. I've had them pretty much since they came out and they still work great. I would recommend them.

oh i have ine on a wave maker witch i have read will wear them out faster, they were makeing a clank when then turn on. I had to have the flow gard on so when its off my blennie didnt climb in the pump. i didnt want a fish blinder

wear out ? That's one for mythbusters . The electrical field in an AC motor is not going to wear out. Try the silicone fuel line mod I posted, they turn on and off as quiet as a tunze. No kidding.

BTW I have 2 #3's in my 120G and feel they are about just right for flow.

ya i wasnt really worried about the whole myth i was just pointing out the out u dont want a fish blinder if u are on a wm, i was going to try that mod to get them quiet

Yeah fish blender would be bad, but more likely a wondering nem shredder, but all powerheads do that.

will the koralia (with the mod) work with the chauvet timer? I have one sitting in my closet that I never cracked open and modified.
