Koralias not working

I picked up two Koralia 4's (1400gph each) but neither seem to put out any flow! Loud too.

Is there some trick to these? They are in a big bin that is only 7" deep of water right now. Thought that may be the issue but put in a filled 5 gallon bucket with same effect.

Thoughts?

Yep...ditch them for some good pumps for that 450G......did you see the new Vortech MP60's?? I think theres a law against putting those koralia's in a nice big tank like yours, not to mention they are highly inadequate for that application. If you want to stick with koralia's then you will need a least 4 of the Koralia's 8's. [smilie=rofl.gif] Here's how these compare with other pump's excluding the new MP60.

Powerheads, Product Name, FlowRate, Watts, Price
Turbelle® stream 6065, 1,717 g/h 12, $152.39
Turbelle® stream 6085, 2,113 g/h 14, $201.59
Turbelle® stream 6125, 3,170 g/h 24, $267.59
Koralia 5, 1650 g/h 8, $129.99
Koralia 6, 2200 g/h 10, $139.99
Koralia 7, 2700 g/h 12, $159.99
Koralia 8, 3250 g/h 18, $169.99
VorTech MP10, 200 to 1575 gph, 8 to 18 watts, 8 to 18 watts,
VorTech MP20, 500-2000 gph, 6-18 watts,
VorTech MP40, 1000-3200 g/h, 9-28 watts

Cheers,

Got the Korolia's working. No idea what was wrong at the beginning, think the prop's were stuck.

I am actually usingTunze on each end of the tank for the primary circulation. Forgot which GPH ones, but think they were the 5500gph. Could be over stating that.

Koralias are going along the back. May put in a couple other Tunze as well to add on timers (through the APEX) for motion effect.

Would have loved the new Vortech's but $$$$! One day maybe :)

Cliff stick with tunze they are tried and true plus they won't nickel and dime you for any repairs.

so true on the nickel and dime on the vortechs. I like them but in a tank that size your not going to lose much real estate so i would go with more tunzes

even small upgrades cost money too don't forget that
