Kessil LED's , very happy 350N review

Well I had not even thought about Kessils much since I first saw one 2 yrs ago at LFS , but with my new tank my son talked about them. Well I found
a real sweet deal on the 350N tuna blues, since they are discontinued the MAP does not apply any longer and if they fail under the 2 yr warranty you get a new 360 .

I bought 1 to test the 350N, was thinking I needed the W but upon further testing I find the Narrow works great and I'm only 7" off the water , my tank is 36x24x22 , I think the W would just bleed light out. The shimmer, oh yes, the shimmer is MH quality, I love seeing shadows as fish swim under the lights.

I dialed my tank in so I have about 150min par on sand bed and that is rendering a ~18K color (measured with seneye) , I can get more par but then it shifts to
about 14K .

Down side is one power supply so no separate blue white remote control but I got my 350N delivered with goosenecks for $262 TOTAL , for that savings of $170 I can live with that over the 360.

The seller IGL has about a months supply of 350N's, I suspect he bought the last Kessil 350's direct since he is right down the street from them and is an authorized reseller so no warranty issues. To get the price you need to use code "200grow" which gives you 10% off.

For my lack of blue for dusk to dawn and moon lights, I have bought "halo" blue led's for cars 80mm and mounted to bottom of kessil and using 2 ac adapters , 1 12Vdc and 1 9Vdc with 2 diodes to isolate them, so for dusk to dawn I use 12V and the led's are bright enough to open corals and at 9V it's dimmer for a nice moon effect, of course my corals will think they are on a different planet with 2 moons.

I'll take some shots with propper white balance with my DSLR this weekend, for now here is some smurf tint Iphone shots.

Summary, first thing is the quality out of the box was what I would expect from high end LED's , the light is the best I've had for color and par with shimmer.

That's a great price said:
Kinda why i waited to post this till I got my 2nd Kessil [smilie=wink.gif] , I may buy a spare , the W's cost more but I don't see a need for them, I think they just
waste light, but I guess if you don't want any shadows , maybe. I just aquascaped for them and no issues.

Do you think 2 350N's would have enough spread on a 48" tank? said:
Yes , I'm covering 39" and only 7" off the water, if you mounted about 10" it would do it easily.

I have 3x360we on a 48x26x20deep and starting to like them a lot more. I was using DIY for about 5 years. Switching I have noticed a shift back to T5 colors in my corals. I wondered about the narrow and really wish you would have posted this discount about a month ago. But here is a pic of my tank an hour after setting up.

Did not even look at kessils till about 2 weeks
Ago. There seems to be something in their spectrum
That others lights are missing . The original
All blue and white LEDs really seem to affect
Corals in a negative way. But these with
A mix of colors and uv seem the way to go

Ok here is a color corrected photo. As you can see on this 39" tank with the kessils 7" off water the spread is great, honestly I don't think the wides do much other than lower the par.
I know kessil says the 350/360 Wide is good for 24" depth tanks and the narrow 30" something but I'm about 80% white to achive 150 par on the sand bed, I think the wide would need to
be even more intensity.

I run 100% all day for 14 hours. Only thing that changes is spectrum from all blue to white back to blue. Then every other day I have the intensity for 4 hours randomly drop to 50% with cloud coverage.
