Kalk question?

I started dripping kalk today using a 2.5 gal. water jug as the container. I have it set to drip about 1 drop ever 2 seconds. This just about matches my evap perfectly. But after about 15 min. I checked the sump and there where little puffy like clouds on the top of the water where it was dripping. Then I watched if for a minute and noticed that it was coming from the kalk water. The recipe I followed was 2 tsp per gal of water I was adding. I made 2 gal. of water so I put 4 tsp's of Ball's Pickling line. Mixed it up for about 20 to 30 min. let it settle for a couple of hours and then siphoned in to the container. Every thing looks normal in the tank as of right now. Are the puffy clouds normal or is some thing wrong?

FYI
I checked the PH before I started and it was at 8.0 then tested it after I noticed this and it was still 8.0. All other tests are either 0 or close to it. Except for the Phosphates (I've been fighting them for a while.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Alan

You need it to drip in a spot of decent flow to wash it along. How about into the bubble trap of your sump?

When you make kalkwasser, it is best to let it sit for an hour after mixing it well, then start the drip. Are you doing this? I am.

Yes I let it set for about an 1 1/2 to 2 hours before I moved it to the container that it drips from. I moved the drip over to the sump in take and I haven't seen any clouds yet. Thanks again for the help.

I use mine right after mixing with no problems. I usually run out at night, so I mix it, reduce my drip rate to once a second and let it go. I haven't had any negative effect, except having to scrape coraline from my front glass on a regular basis.
