Kalk+liquid calc+reefbuiler or use kalk+b-ionic

[Right now, I have to dose liquid calc every day and use reef builder 2 times a week to keep everything in balance.
I also top off with kalk on my 29 gal, which has a little bit of everything in it. Would it be cheaper/easier for me to use b-ionic instead of liquid calc and reefbuilder with kalk?

Thanks ???]

[I'm a huge fan of B-ionic, and had good results with it. I also had good results with Tropic Marin BioCalc, but I believe its a bit more pricey than the two part B-ionic. If you do some research on RC, you'll probably find the most popular calc supplement for those who do not have calc reactor is B-ionic. You can usually get the 2 gal Buffer system for about $25 to $30. This will last you a long time on a 29 gal.

[Well, I didn't dose everyday, but I had about 170 gallons water volume. With a smaller tank, you may want to dose everyday, in small amounts. Thats the advantage of a larger tank, it does not require as much daily attention. I would say that you need to develop a routine, as everything in a 29 gal. will probably feel the affects much more quickly if you stray from that. If you really want to know how often to dose, then check calcium levels after a day off, when they are ~450ppm the previous day. If they are below 400ppm, then I would say you'll need to dose again. At some point, you'll know exactly how much you need to dose, and how often. the main thing is that calc. levels need to remain somewhere between 400-450ppm.

[FWIW, I dose 20ml of each part of B-Ionic in my 29g daily. And I believe I have a heavy calcium load. So as you were recommened, test your water for Alk and Ca every day for at least a week to make sure you don't overdose your tank.]

[for me, I'd just go with the kalkwasser by itself and nothing else. It's just the simplest way I've found to buffer ph and raise alk and calcium levels. I dosed ESV for about a year with very little change in coralline algae growth (I know a lot of people love ESV's B-ionic, and I believe it's a good product, just speaking from my experience.) When I began dosing lime water at night to account for evap, the coralline algae took off. Now it's a real pain to scrape. An added bonus with lime water is the reduction of phosphates in the water column. Not much guess work for me either. I suppose when the tank gradually becomes more sps dominated I'll need to add a calcium reactor to keep up.]

[Well,
I ordered some b-ionic, plus another container of reef builder just in case b-ionic doesn't work out.
It's too bad I don't have enough vaporation to let the limewater to make up the calc and alk enough. ???]
