Just got my 15k iwasakis

Since it was time to get new bulbs i replaced my 175w 14k hams with the 175w 15k iwasakis. ALl i can say is WOW. the iwasakis are SO much brighter . However im soo use to the 14k ham color this crisp white from the 15k makes me want to add some more blue from my t5 actinics. I have a 4x54w advanced t5 ho ballast that i currently run two 54w super actinics that i got from DNA. I dont think they are the rightbulbs becasue they dont burn bright at all.. they are barely bright and they are purple not blue. So basically im wondering whats the brightes blue t5 bulb out there. I herd that ati's blue plus was very bright blue with good par (not that the par matters wih the new 15k iwasakis). i mjust lookin for some better supplmentation t5's. any advice would be great

I don't have a "super actinic" but I've got a blue plus and a "tru actinic", and the blue plus definitely has a brighter visual appearance than the "tru actinic", at least to me. No idea which actually has the higher PAR though.

If you're running a standard ballast running 54 watts on 48" T5s, you may also want to consider swapping it with an Icecap 660; they'll "overdrive" a 54 watt T5 to about 85 watts - just another way to get a little more light in the same amount of canopy space. You do need to have air circulating around the end caps if you do this, though, as they run hotter than the normally driven T5s do.
