jbj nano cube- where's the heater go?

I just got in my new 24 gallon nano cube and I'm beginning to set it up. I see the remeovable black rubber grommet for the cord to go through, but which chamber do you put the heater in? Does it go in the chamber with the pump, because it looks like there is room in there. But, don't you take out the ceramic rings and bio balls? So, then the middle chamber will be empty and it can go in there? Also, can someone please recommend a heater for me?

Mine is in the 2nd chamber, but my setup is different. It needs to be in a chamber where the water will stay at a constant level despite evaporation.

Well, I haven't even plugged it in yet, so I don't know where the water will stay a constant level. Can anyone with this model please tell me what you did? Also, what are some options of what to put in these chambers?

I have a different model, but I put mine in the first chamber (where the intake vents are). That chamber stays a constant level. Chambers 2 and 3 are the ones that fluctuate the most due to evaporation.

just set it up and put the heater in once you can tell. that's the easiest way to do it. you have to have water on the heater before it will work anyways. it goes in chamber 1 where the water flows into it. throw some rock rubble into chamber 2 where the bioballs would have gone. other than that, id leave it alone. just dont use bioballs because they are a nitrate factory. if you have any questions my cell is in my profile.

oh and also, hi :)

I put mine in the 3rd chamber, where the pump is. I bought a fully ubmersible "stealth" heater, works great. Betwen it and having the cneter chamber full of cheato with a light on it at night, the temp stays within a degree all teh time.

(Yes, I took out the bioballs and the rings. Cut off the plastic in back at teh center chamber to make a 'fuge', and only use the finest sponge in the first chamber. I also have charcoal in a filterbag blocking the overflow into the 3rd chamber, so water HAS to flow through it. This also keeps the cheato from getting into the pump...)

Thanks yall. I ended up putting it in the second chamber, someone told me that is where the water stays at a constant level. I will just keep an eye on it and see if I need to move it. What was that about rubble rock in the rear chamber? I didn't know that was necessary. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to put in back there.

Josh,
There were bioballs. I thought I was supposed to take them out. They're in a box under my aquarium. Should I rinse them and put them back in? I thought I read that they were not to be used with a reef tank because the liverock, or something like that.

Don't use the bioballs in your reef tank. I have the same exact 24g JBJ nano cube as you. I put my heater in the 2nd chamber with LR also. It is a very large chamber and the water level does stay constant.

I use the sponge in the first chamber, squashed down a bit with a purigen pillow on top of it, heater in the second chamber along with a pillow of carbon and a second pillow of purigen. Nothing in the 3rd except the return pump. Mine's a freshwater tank and a replaced the stock pump with a tiny Eheim Compact 30 thats about 80gph.

I have the Sapphire skimmer in my 6G in the center chamber, so my heater element is in the 1st chamber. I run live rock rubble in there instead of foam.
