As I prepare to set things back up, I'm re-thinking the location of my top off/ kalkwasser mix location. I previously had metal halides but am going LED. Previously I was losing 2-3 gallons a day in evaporate( 180 gallon tank) and used a Kangaroo dose pump to draw solution that was in a 29 gallon tub, elevated 3 feet off the floor, outside the tank stand.
I'm now considering trying to remember whether the solution needs to be elevated for the dosing (suction?) to work. FWIW, my new setup has a return pump in the sump and potentially has allowed enough room inside the stand for a smaller tub. I'm figuring less evaporate...less need for a big tub, plus get the tub out of view.
Question starts with whether tub needs to be elevated, and creative ideas about a container that is easily removed and will fit through the door space (12") to remove, if necessary. Advice is appreciated.
