It's wet! finally!

[Well, after all the #%^@# repair work that it took, I figured that the DIY forum was THE place for this. :)

The 700 is finally wet and has passed the first day with no leaks. whew. :D]

[Could we please have some pictures?
I have heard about your tank while at the workshop and it sounds very interesting.]

[They are super bright tealish blue. Really sweet looking!

Cant wait to see pics of the tank! Do you have rock/sand in it yet? How about the plumbing, that all go ok?]

[Man, I know that every creak of the flooring and every drop of water would awaken me in a panic for the first...oh....six months. :Oo:

I wish you much success, and please do post some pictures of its progression. I wanna see pictures of the dry floor too. :laugh long:

Have you been adding water from an LFS or via an RO/DI unit? What size sump is going under the tank, and will it hold the excess when the return pump shuts off? What return pump(s) did you select? Are you going to use Tunze Streams to move the water the full distance?]

Right now the tank is stress testing with tap water. I have 2 100gpd RO units for the filling.

The Tunze are sweet powerheads but they are still powerheads. Me no like! (just my personal preference) Circulation for the tank is driven by 2 Sequence Durango pumps and a 4 way Oceans Motions wave maker. One pump runs the closed loop and the other returns from the 2 100 gal sumps.]

[That sounds like a good idea. What about the sump? What is your plan?]

[The sump is a pair of 100 gal tanks cross connected with four 2" pipes. And yes, a LOT of water comes down into the sump when you turn the pumps off!]

[How much total water if one 1" of the surface water drains down? I can't remember the dimensions of the tank.]

[Congrats Scott,

Hey maybe I should drop that bucket of crushed coral off rather than have you pick it up, that way I might get a peek at the tank.

[One of the bulkheads was weeping on me so I had to drain the tank to reseal it. All in all... not bad! I was expecting at least a couple plumbing leaks. Pics will be up this weekend.
:)]

[Scott,
That is great news. Just from the small look I got at your construction, most of the people on here would not believe the amount of HARD work you have put in.
Good luck, just post if you need some help.

How is the vat of LR in your garage coming along?]

[It's been cooking for the last 6 months so it's more than ready to move into the new tank. Hopefully I won't have a very big cycle with it as my base.

water test #2 starts tomorrow.]

[patients is the worst part of this hobby,,LOL.... specially when you wake up at night thinking about how you want your tank/new creation to look.....
