Is your skimmer trying to overflow today?

All day long, I've been watching my skimmer closely. The water level rises in the neck so close to the top that it could overflow if I didn't dial it back. Every couple of hours, I've had to open the gate valve a little bit to lower the water level.

I'm wondering if the Super Moon event is causing it. [smilie=wink.gif]

Same problem down here in New Orleans with my skimmer. I have a Tunze 9010, and it never does this. I did just add an ATO from autotopoff.com. Who knows? Bizarre. Tons of pollen? Radioactive fallout?

With my Euroreef CS 12-3, even a tiny turn of the handle has a decent impact on the water level, but yesterday I had to do so at least 5 times. Even now it is bubbling up very high in the neck.

I can't tell if it is a weather thing quite yet, although barometric pressure definitely affects skimmers.

I have two 200 plus gallon tanks in my house and One skimmer freaked and the other did not. My DS 1 had to be emptied about 5-6 times yesterday. I did not know what was going on. Weird?

Good gawd. For two weeks my skimmer has been overflowing with bubbles 24/7. Even with the return gate valve all the way open and the feed pump chocked back. Ironically said:
Red slime remover will over flow the skimmer. I read that it is an oxidizer

You need to change a lot more water -- or -- let the cup continue to overflow, dump it out often and replace the lost water with new (aged) saltwater. With my 280g reef, I had to dump and replace 14g worth of watery skimmate with replacement saltwater to avoid changing the salinity of my reef.
