is this favia recoverable?

That looks pretty dead... I don't see any tissue and it seems to have been dead for awhile due to the dark coloration. :?

That's one of them LE Deceasia Favita's.

I hope he does get it worked out because he won't be trading corals long if he is foisting off dead corals on people. I certainly hope it was an innocent mistake.

It was a joke.. deceasia (Deceased or dead). :)

I'm sure he does want it deleted... this kind of thing is good information and should be available so I hope it doesn't get deleted. If its just a misunderstanding and he makes good on it, it will help his cause even more than if it never existed. If he doesn't, then this stands as a warning not to deal with him.

Here is a pic taken the other day when this was posted. It took approximately 1 to 2 hours to catch a blue tang that was part of our deal, then a long drive to Princeton. Also when I had this piece under heavy lights it didn't do well.....which I explained..its going from T-5 to heavy wattage of metal halides. On top of that, when it was commented on that the watchman goby I had was a nice one, I caught him and gave him to Jason. When I brought this favia home from DNA it looked worse, and came back and hopefully this will also; however, as soon as this was brought to my attention I offered to undue the trade, or work it out anyway possible. Communication slow? I accepted the switch for plate coral, immediately, but unfortunately did not bring it to work with me today as I had no idea this would happen. Oh yes, I was asked if I brought the plate to work 4 hours after being at work. I have always stated I would switch.....just because tonight was not a good night is not my fault. If this association is just interested in one version, then count me out. This was the pic taken expressly for this deal a day or two before the trade. It did get shaded some and lost some color on the edges but sure doesn't look like the pic when in shock. Bottom line I always stated I would do whatever to retify the situation, and I don't need people talking trash. BTW Matt told me when I pm ed him to assure him that I did not intend to sell a bad coral, that if we worked out a deal let him know so this post could be removed without the drama it has gotten.

I expected this from saltwaterfish.com but not my "neighbors"

If you intend to make it right, then its no big deal. Post like this are good info for the future, rather it be a trade with you or anyone else. If you didn't mean to give a dead coral, then simply make it right. In this case you say you will give him a plate instead. It's understandable that this cannot be done in 24 hours.
All you need to do is make a post that you are in the process of making it right, and you expect to have it rectified by early next week. At which point the club members will give you the benefit of the doubt, and the oppurtunity to make the situation right. However, if you or anybody for that matter, do not make it right, then expect for others to not be so willing to make trades with you.
I don't think anyone has passed judgement yet, but everyone here does want you to make it right. If you make it right in a timely fassion, then the other members will be that much more willing to do trades with you in the future.
Good luck, and hopefully this gets ironed out in the quickly.

And Yes, it does look dead in all the pics posted, thats why the hermits are crawling all over it in your pics.

sounds kind of like threats to me...........

You might want to PM or call him to see if he will work some sort of deal with you. Maybe he was unfamiliar with what a dead or nearly dead LPS looks like? In the future, if you can ever see major recession or a large part of the skeleton poking through the tissues of LPS, you should probably pass on it.

Sounds like a better way to state the same thing

I just see it as a fact. Put yourself in the other person's shoes who feels like they might have been ripped off. I'd want to know about the dishonesty, and if the seller/trader rectifies it, then it becomes an honest mistake .

Why do you assume that they might have been ripped off? If I bought something I didn't like, even going to the person's home and that person said that he would make good, then I would not believe that I was ripped off. I think this is the problem on this thread........I am guilty until all you all knowers get confirmation that I am not. None of you know what is going on between us, what is being said in emails, etc. But you know what, I really don't care. I hope that when our switch is made, Jason doesn't state that I made things right as I shouldn't have to prove myself to people who have nothing to do with this transaction. Jason came running on this board within hours of the deal, and a mere 12 hours after the deal, I said I would make good. but that doesn't seem good enough, so be it. Funny how I get accused of selling a dead coral, but noone has looked at the pic from 3 days ago and said it looked dead then, no flesh, etc. and I shouldn't have sold it. Jason had no probs with the pic and if he had doubts he could have asked then, but that's really not the problem, as even if this was the meatest favia around, if he didn't like it, I would/will exchange it. As stated, I don't know a lot of people who have come on this board and not had the decency to give me even the slightest benefit of doubt.

not knowing that you were at work 4 hours already.( not all people have the luxury of having a 9-5 job. i know i dont).

Once again, read the response..........first of all my hours are 6 am to 3 pm, second if I agreed to the switch on the 3rd email, and you admit we exchanged emails for 4 hours, but that when we agreed to the switch communication got slow, this is a contradiction. I agreed to the switch at 10:36 which is on the 3rd email (after the deal you proposed that I did'nt like) the next 10 or so emails were wanting me to meet you, even when I said I had to be in Plano after work. If you're going to come on this board and say things, please get your facts right.

If it's dead in my pic, then my ignorance is unacceptable. Obviously I wouldn't have posted a pic just to prove that I sold a dead coral. Through the disdain of others, I have learned. I will go back to doing my legal work and this won't happen again

If you're going to quote, quote the entire passage....

"I am guilty until all you all knowers get confirmation that I am not. None of you know what is going on between us, what is being said in emails, etc. But you know what, I really don't care."

I will explain incase it is difficult to understand.........I was judged guilty, even without people knowing that we had worked out a swap, if people want to judge me guilty without knowing the whole story, then I DON'T CARE

Don't throw it out. Last year I had a Red Lobo that I thought was dead. I was about to chunk it and decided to put it in my fuge instead. Several months later I was shutting down that tank and was quite surprised to see 2 small Lobos growing on the old skeleton. They are now quite healthy and growing somewhat fast. One is about the diam. of a tennis ball and the other is just slightly smaller.
