is my tank cycled?

I have never really had to cycle a new tank before. The last two tanks I purchased were used so they had basically been drained and then immediately set back up with the same sand and rock. So there was no cycling.

I started a 6 gallon 9 days ago. New water, new dry sand, and three pieces of live rock. I put some frozen fish food in the tank to start the cycle. Today the parameters measured .25 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 10 nitrate.

Do you guys think the tank is almost cycled? I was surprised that it would happen so quickly. Or has the cycle not really started? In that case do I need to add more frozen food to get it cycling?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Was the live rock from an established tank, or uncured?

You're at the very begining of the cycle so just wait awhile.Next you should have a small nitrite spike, then finnally nitrates. Your cycle will be finished when no ammonia or nitrites are present and nitrates are at an acceptable level.
