Two weeks ago, the annual event Interzoo took place over a single weekend, not unlike MACNA this September. Vendors like Ecotech Marine, Seachem and Live Aquaria were there to market their wares.

Dani of Danireef typed up his perspective of what it was like to attend this year. His main language is Italian, so his English isn't perfect. He's concerned about the crisis of people not attending a huge function like Interzoo. http://www.reefs.com/blog/2012/06/14/editorial-the-interzoo-2012-in-nuremberg/

Are you going to MACNA this fall? Let's make sure our club's involvement shines to the general audience and attend en masse. Did you see this thread yet? viewtopic.php?f=3&t=98644

Our business is 95% large & small private trade shows. We have noticed over the last couple years that for many companies the general trade show is not where companies are spending their money for exposure. Too many attendees are not in the market to buy, just looking for a good time & curious. We are seeing many smaller more private venues that are zeroing in on the consumer who is a "sure thing". They are tailoring their marketing strategy to a very specific sector. Maybe the days of big trade shows have outlived their previous successes. Too much partying & not enough promoting the product they are there to promote or learn about. Used to be business all day & party at night...if you still had any energy.
