Interesting reflector question.

In one of sanjay's newer reflector reviews he discusses the newest in reflectors at the heights of 24" and 30".

He mentions that the luminarc III are better for wider tanks. I understand that this is stated on the basis of mounting the center of the ballast 24" - 30" up.

My predicament is that after reading this and I am wondering if I should upgrade reflectors. I am using old parallel PFO reflector from one of sanjay's first reviews. I also own 3 luminarc III's that I am about to install. My tank is only 24" wide and 24" deep.

What stirred this up. Was I was looking at the light print of the luminarc reflector in the dark to figure out how high I was going to mount them. The light seemed to spread very quickly as I raise the the reflector further from the ground. I was wondering if I was going to bleed more light and not be worth the up grade.

Maybe I am over thinking this.

Thanks YUKI

You will get a lot of light pouring into the room if you don't have a canopy. The Lumenbright reflectors are probably a better choice for a 24" tank imo. At 16" height they direct light pretty much straight down into the tank. I upgraded from lumenarc's to lumenbrights and it did make a big difference. My .02 cents at least.

Cheers,

My new tank is going to be 36" wide, and I'm using three Lumenbright Large pendants.

Well.. Thanks for the responses but, I have only two choices because I am not going to buy new reflectors. I am leaning toward the old PFOs.
