Injuried fish and cleaner shrimp

Recently I picked up a Coral Beauty that was being picked on and had some sort of a sore or scab on one side of his body. His pectoral fin on that side also looks pretty well nipped at. Shortly after I brought him home I placed two cleaner shrimp in my tank. the Coral beauty was trying to get them to celan them while they where floating in the bags. After they where let losse in the tank the beauty is constantly being clean. In less then 8 hours the spot looks so much better but the beauty is still going by to get cleaned. I know it is possible that he could be gettign over cleaned but what should I look for? Also I was thinking about starting to feed with the Kent Garlic to help with his slime coat out. Good idea or bad idea? I wish I could get a pic of the problem but he will not still still long enough for me to get my camera to take a picture of it.

Any help would be great.

I would keep a close eye on the wound. If it appears to look better after the cleaning then I wouldnt be concerned. What are you feeding? Mysis and Formula One or Two would be my recommendations. The nutrition will help his immune system. You can also add a bit of garlic, I cant say it will help for sure but it certainly wont hurt either. Zoe and Selcon are also great food additives that will certainly help improve his immune system, boosting his ability to heal on his own.

If you are concerned about infection at any point, let me know and I can recommend meds. This will need to be done in a QT.

In the meantime keep your water quality pristine. A few extra water changes would definately aid this along.

HTH!

Right now I am feeding just a small amount of mysis, Nutra Fin Max marine flake, and freeze dried brine shrimp. The area looks 100% better today then it did when I first put the shrimp in. It when from being a hwite looking mass on the side of the fish to where you can actually see the out line of scales. My main concern is that he might be alowwing himself to be cleaned to often. Some time I think that the clean shrimp is getting alittle to rough in his cleaning as the beauty just kind of flinches but does not leave the cleaning station. I am hoping this is a healthy relationship and not some thing I need to stop. Thanks for the help

sorry for the dirty glass I did not realize it had gotten that dirty but here are some pics of the wound I am talking about

That is pretty funky looking sore. If all goes well, she should heal up nicely on her own. However, if it starts looking different/worse you may need to intervene. Keep a close on eye on it for awhile.

I would definately keep your water pristine and try some of the recommended foods above.

Well he is eatign like a champ and is very very active. I am hoping to do a 25% water change this weekend. I plan to try to do this till I can get my sump built and skimmer up and running. As of last night everything still tested up zero across the board. Thanks I will take progress pics as we go along in case I am missing something.

Thank you for your help
