[When initially filling your tank and sump what is the proper way to do it? I was figuring turn all pumps off, let water level itself in tank and sump. When sump is leveled off and tank is calm add appropriate water to tank to get it to fill height. Turn everything back on. Is this correct or am I adding too much water to the system?

thanks]

[Fill up the tank.

Fill up the sump to the normal operating level you expect.

Turn on the pump. Be ready to add about 2 or 3 more gallons once things get running. Do not overfill the sump, because when the pump goes off, some water will drain and your sump will overflow if it isn't large enough.

Read this page to find out how to mark your sump to avoid this from happening.
