In no particular order, what I wish someone, anyone, had told me on the day I purchased my first salt water tank on Jan 4th, 2012.
1) The patience of Job is not enough for this hobby.
2) You will screw up and accidentally kill your new pet.
3) Don't give up when number 2 happens.
4) Wait and save up for a bigger tank. A much bigger tank.
5) Your spouse may not share the same level of enthusiasm for your new hobby. [smilie=rofl.gif]
6) The "ideal" size for your refugium is slightly bigger than your display tank.
7) Adding anything to your existing tank/ecosystem is stressful for the owner and tank critters. Plan ahead big time.
8) Learn to depend on the wisdom and generosity of DFWMAS.
9) The part time employee at your LFS is enthusiastic but perhaps not always wise or highly experienced.
10) Marine aquariums in general are darn expensive, but a whole lot of fun.
