ID possible 'white rat droppings' in new tank

I seem to have small piles of 'white rat droppings' in my tank. I purchased my live rock from another member and can't seem to figure out what's causing this. I don't have anything that's live in my tank yet except my rock, sand, a turbo snail and a condi anemone. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dan

Those look like squirel droppings... i'd be on the look out for a yellow Sponge and a Purple star fish that live in a pineapple under the sea

Sorry I couldn't resist!

My vote would be on a sand sifting cucumber as that is very similar to what they leave behind. Can't say this with a strait face, but poke it with a stick, lol, if it desolves into what appears to be substrate thn that's probably it.

Definately to regular of a shape to be non-animal made. Could also be a pistol shrimp that is stacking up similar sized particles.

Just because you haven't put anything large in there that you intended to put in does not mean you don't have life in the tank. You'd be amazed at what can live in what seems like totally dry live rock and then reappear once submerged again.

I've seen those in my tank too. I always thought they were Turbo snail poo. Mark said:
my mexican turbo snails stop every few days and drop GIANT loads of poo's that look just like that (or bigger)

+1 for Turbo Snail waste. Hermits leave pellets like that as well. Nothing to be worried about. Just part of the waste management system!

I've seen my emerald crab spit out little tubes like that but green... I guess from all the bubble algae it eats. But same exact shape.
