ID Please- Marine Plant / Algae

This started growing on one of my pieces on Tongan Branch. It came out of nowhere so I'm assuming it had to be imbedded in the branch lying dormant or something since I don't have this anywhere else in my tank.

It looks like 2 patches of Bonsai-like St. Augustine grass. I'm assuming it's beneficial.

Here is a pic. Of course, my Starry Blenny had to get in the pic like he's starved for attention or something, lol.

It looks like a stretched out variation of Valonia.

I dont have a macro lens, but if you look on the bottom left you see kind of a round part. What it looks like in person is a Fern-like spread starting to form at the tips of the "grass".

Only about 4 instances of it starting to become fern-like. Maybe when it grows out a bit it will be easier to tell. Looks cool tho.

*nod* My first gut reaction was caulerpa taxafolia, but it's waaay too small. Maybe one of the pinnate nuisance species like byropsis?

I've got the same going on in my tank also. Could we get more feedback on possibly what it is and is it benificial ?
Thanks
Jamie

Mine is on a piece of Tongan Branch so I have it isolated. As it grows out I will keep this thread updated. It started from nothing to where it is now in about 2 months. Very slow grower (knock on wood).
