I have a lot of algae on my sand

i am just starting out and i have a 12 gallon nano and i am starting to accumulate a lot of algae on my sand ,green algae.... what kind of different critter would be good cleaners for this thing. i only have a blue damsel so anything that is compatable with that will work. i also have one big zebra snail and 3 hermit crabs but they always stay on the rocks????????

You may want to add a couple Nassarius Snails. your tank isn't big enough for any other sand sifting inhabitants...imo

It sounds like you have too much nutrients in the water. You might want try feeding a bit less and reducing the time lights are on. You can also vacuum your sanded. As far as critters cerith snails are best for cleaning sand. They will sift it also. Good luck.
