I got the bubbles

I now have the dreaded microbubbles in my display and don't know where they're coming from. Turned off skimmer but they're still there. Went through the plumbing tightening everything and nothing !! What can I do at this point? I never had this problem before. I've been looking at redoing my plumbing. Maybe this is a good time [smilie=smile.gif] .

How long did you try leaving the skimmer off for? Once the microbubbles are in the water, it can perpetuate for a while. Also do you have pump inlets or powerheads close to the surface of the water? I ask because the inlet could draw air with water when it pumps.

It's not the powerheads, as I can see the bubbles coming from my return. I'll turn skimmer off longer and see. If it is not the skimmer, what might be causing this?

Your plumbing from the overflow to your sump and the return pump back to your tank is under positive pressure. In the event of lose connections or holes, water will only come out, air will not enter the lines there. Is there a bubble trap in your sump? Check to see if you can point the overflow line coming into your sump any differently to allow for less surface disturbance. My guess is that it is caused by the overflow coming into your sump.
