I am lost! - Need sug.

[I have stumped everyone at my local pet store. i have a 55 reef with a few fish. All of a sudden every thing is dieing off. I have lost 6 different fish,3 heads on my frogspawn, 2 on my torch, and now i have ich. We have checked the water and it seems to be fine i just can't get the ph to 8.3. I have been using seachem 8.3 buffer every other day and i am still not haveing any luck. I hope someone can send some new ideas on things i can try.]

[How long ago did it start?
Do you have water tests from as soon as the first thing died?
How long has the tank been setup?
Salinity, Temperature?

Its possible something could of crashed the tank when it started, and the parameters have corrected themselves?

Are things getting better, worse, stable?

Please post your water test results, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, alkalinity, ca.

Is it possible something contaminated the tank? Overspray from something? Do you have children, a house keeper, etc..

The ich is obviously from the stress of whatever pissed off the tank, a sure sign your water was not "fine" recently, maybe a quick drop or raise in temperature or salinity?

Some more info on the tank itself, do you have a sump. how often do you replace evaporated water?

As much details as you can give. Many things that could cause this.]

[Scott,
Have you tried another ph test kit and/or monitor to confirm the 8.3 reading? Perhaps your ph is changing with the addition of buffer, but your test isn't reading correctly. have you changed the source of your makeup water? maybe some other impurities that's not being tested for.]

[All this started about three weeks ago. Temp is always 78.4 to 79.8. I dropped the salenity down when i noticed the ich in the tank. So now it is about .021. The tank was set up in July of 04. When all this started test showed the dkh and the ph were off. Then the ammonia went up as things started to die off. They are still up as things are still dieing. The latest was my purple fire fish. The foxface still has ich on him but it is getting better. The only other fish i have left is my flamehawk and it is fine nothing on it and is not behaveing any different. I have about 75 lbs. of live rock in the tank and i am running a backpac protien skimmer. The tanks is cleaned every friday as soon as i get off work and i am changeing about 7 to 10 gallons every time. That is all i know to post if there is anything i can add to find out what is going on i will. Thanks to all of you in advance,
scott :sniffle:]

[We need specific parameters, either from your test results or from the LFS test results.]
