Hey guys,
i recently started using a refractometer and found my SG way off from what I had been reading with a notoriously inaccurate hydrometer.
As most newbs tend to use the less expensive, and often included with used tank purchase tool. I thought I would refer those who use a hydrometer to this article.
Hydrometer's are calibrated at 60 degrees.
As most of our tanks are 80 - 82 degrees, this will skew your measurement.
This site has a nifty chart showing the corrected SG values based on your current tank water temp.
enjoy and I hope this helps someone.
