Definitely you can start with just a water change. Do you dose or top off with kalk? It should drop on its own but the water change is an easy start. Also, are you making your own water or get it from a LFS?

Everything isnt perfect and in check if your alk is 17. I would stop dosing until you learn more on doing it. 17 is really high

Maybe but it test fine in my others tanks

How are you dosing alk and what brand salt are you using.

What's your ca level at?

Kalk on previous tanks. And reef crystals normally. I used fluval this time

Do you test the ca and alk of the newly mixed saltwater.

Kalk you need to becareful especially if you evaporate alot of water

You need to test your newly mixed salt water also. If a bucket has been sitting awhile stuff tend to settle towards the bottom of the bucket. When you first buy a bucket roll it around for couple min I read this on rc

Sounds like your test kit is true since the other tanks readings are inline with normally recorded values. [smilie=nerd.gif] As mentioned I would check the alk level in newly mixed SW. Also keep in mind that different salts have different mixing criteria etc., so be sure your salinity is where it should be and not elevated. [smilie=nerd.gif] I still use reef crystals and have tried others. YMMV
