i have one of those filter sock setups with a ring that is on the sock and snaps into the holder on the sump - i like to clean the socks every 2-3 days, but, i can't turn these socks inside out - how does everyone clean their socks? any suggestions?

I used to use a vinegar solution, now I just toss 'em in the washer.

Gerard,
I put mine all in the laundry with a little bleach. Don't use hot water, only cold. I turn mine inside out. 2 rinse cycles and hang to dry. Don't use the dryer, it will melt the plastic.

Gerard-
I have the 4" diameter socks. I use one of those mini fire hose jets on the water hose that shoots a high pressure stream and blast all of the muck out of the sock and then soak in bleach. Rinse. Dry. Use. Repeat.

I take a 1 inch PVC pipe about 2 feet long and place the sock over the end and use the water hose on the stream setting. It seams to releive the detritus better than just spraying it while flat. I would not trust putting any fish stuff in the washing machine. Good Luck

I throw mine in the washer with bleach, hang dry and treat with a chlorine remover like Amquel before using. :)
