How many people would like a site to enter their tank params

Just wondering? I was thinking of building this for someone and wondered if it would be feature alot of people would like. You know like if you went to a website and could enter your tank parameters after you do your water tests, and the you could view charts on the results?

Is it just a really silly thing, or would people actually use it?

I don't see why it would hurt . In fact it may help us new to the hobby figure out where we should be and if we are doing something wrong. I'd use it . But I'm new so anything that makes it less stressful is good.

Faith, I have 3 different software packages on my computer that do the same thing and I don't use any of them very often. To be honest, I have a small, spiral notebook that I bought at Target for $1 (even has fishies on it :) ) which gets more use than anything else when it comes to tracking stuff.

My husband and I test daily, same time every day. We use a waterstained ol notepad. Having a program would be great! Then we could write in the notepad (or if the program had an option) if we did anything out of the ordinary that day like add a new fish or LR and watch the graph for changes.

bchdFLdian,

Hmm that sounds like a feature it should have too. Maybe "Tank Notes" and a color code indicating a coral was added or a fish, then you click the little color notation by the date, or the date itself is a color and a link, and you can see your tank notes.

Hmmm sounds interesting. I will think on that one.

I am working on making this web based program, it is based off the one I have on my wildreef.com website, but with users and logins etc. I have stopped using the one on my website, after resetting it for the 700, to keep it's parameters. I stopped using it because I bought the Octopus, which does all that for me. But when I was manually taking the tests, it helped me alot to keep track of my params, and determine when I need to add calcium and alkalinity, or strontium. It really did help me considerably.

PS Wildreef.com is the website for my personal aquarium, not a store or anything. It has pics of my 700 Gallon Reef Aquarium, and all the blood sweat and tears we have poured into it. I am a web developer by trade and I am just getting a feel for if this is something people might use, and I could put it out there for their use. Basically, I wanna know if it is worth the time to spend on coding it.

Thanks for the ideas, and keep 'em comming!

Ok, what about another place where you could put notes of what additives you should put in that day, but where you don't have to manually put it in, but you can set it "Show this note every 4 days forever".
I know some things should be added every four days while others weekly. Or like phyto is every other day. Hard for my husband to keep track so he just adds the equivalent daily. We were going to put a calendar by the tank but if it was implemented in to the program that would make more sense.

So that would ential making a calendar for every member... So you want to log the additives tht you put into the tank? Like Phyto and what else?

Take your pick. I use just about the whole Kent line like calcium, iodine, stro & moly, fine filter feeder mix etc.

Maybe not so much a calendar but when you log your test results for the day it'll say like "iodine today" somewhere.

I wouldn't put it on a different site. I keep those numbers on my own spreadsheet and on my site.
