How active is your foxface?

I just got a fiji foxface yesterday to help wipe out all my caulerpa. I thought this guy would be a very active swimmer like other tangs. He just kinda floats around and pics at algae. He seems happy, still a little skiddish, but is breathing nice and slow. Is this normal?

Well, gee, give the guy a chance! You just plopped him into a new environment, he's new to the area!

LOL

But, really, give him time to adjust to the new cage. My foxface hid for the first two days. Now he constantly swims back and forth, and sits right in front of me when I stand in front of the tank.

Of course, I generally give my fish a few weeks to come out of their shell. I just wondered generally how active these fish where.

Foxfaces tend not to have too many predators due to their venomous spine. Still new ones to a tank tend to act shy at first. Sometimes exhibited that color change that makes them look diseased and sometimes just hiding in a cave. Should be fine as they figure out the new setting.

The foxface can be a wierd critter. Mine is pretty shy, but so are most of my fish. I will never forget the first time I saw him sleeping. It is one of the most awful looking fish I have ever seen. I thought for sure he was dead. When I got to close he let me know he was not dead. Brown, white, and black spots all over. You can really tell their mood from their color tone. Mine is a hearty eater, and is growing like a weed though.
