Hoss' Red Sea Max

Hello everyone. Here is my first real post showing my tank and it's progres. This is my first salt water tank and I am really enjoying the hobby, even if my wallet is not. If you like, you can skip right on down to the pictures of my tank, but here are a few details and specs as of now. I'm still learning how to take pictures of the tank, so please forgive the bad ones.

Equipment
RSM 34 Gallon
Stevie's Media Rack (AWESOME)
Tunze 9002
Koralia #2

Livestock & Corals
2 B&W Clowns
1 Pygmy Angel
1 Scooter Blenny
1 Purple Firefish
1 Green Chromis
Multiple Snails and Crabs
Unidentified Anenome - Hosting Clowns
6 Blue and Green Ricordias
2 Red Mushrooms
Unidentified Green Polyps on Mushroom Rock
2 Bubble Tip Anenome's
Frogspawn 6 Heads

Questions DFWMAS
1) How did I do on the Aquascape? It took me forever and I am still not 100% happy with it. I think I have too much rock, but I prefer too much than not enough.
2) What kind of Anenome is in the last picture? When I bought the black clowns they came with that anenome. They love it, but I have no idea what kind it is. The guys said "Magnificent," but I am not sure.
3) How do I remove this Anenome from that rock and put him somewhere else? I hate that rock in my tank, but the Anenome loves it and that spot. I've tried putting it higher, lower, into more flow, less flow, upside down. He just will not budge.
4) Those two small Anenome's in picture 6 below are Bubble Tips correct?

Bubble Tips
These are bubble tips right? The white one actually has a light green haze to it with cool pink tips. Bleached?

B&W Clowns (aka: DEVIL and DEVIL's WIFE)
These guys are so cool to watch, but they are VERY aggressive with me. One finger goes into the tank and they are coming to the surface to bow up. They do bite me which makes placing and rearranging things tough. It does not hurt, but startles me EVERY time. I feel like a wuss. It does worry me if/when I start putting more fish in. FYI, they are fine with the chromis and pygmy angel.

Thanks again everyone and I would love to hear your opinions.

Nice clowns
They are occelaris not percs. Just for your info.
Some stores don't really care or know the difference.
The anemones you mentioned are bubble tips. The whitish one is bleached, but should recover if your lighting is adequate. Try feeding it a bit until it gets zooxanthellae back. It will turn a brownish/green color when healthy. It will probably look much like the other one on that rock.
Your aquascape is ok, but a little packed now with the added rock...
It's a matter of taste, but I liked the aquascape of the first pic. You might think of making more arches etc. and less of a wall of rock look, but that's totally a personal preference.
Also more flow the better as long as clowns aren't struggling with it.
Overall looks great!
Keep up the good work and an eye on your wallet haha. You are only beginning my friend.

The whitish 'nem is a green bubble tip. It should get its color back with feedings and good water parameters. When you feed the anenomes, use a mixture of mysis, brine and cyclope-eeze. Just get a turkey baster or something similar and squirt a bit into them. The clowns will eat a lot of it as well. Of course, you may already be doing this. What you don't want to feed the 'nems are large chunks of shrimp or whole silversides. If you do use that, cut/dice/chop into small particles so they can digest easier...less stress equals happier anenomes! GL...
BTW, aquascaping is purely a personal preference. I like a more open area with caves and bridges. Set it up how YOU like it. Check out pics of others tanks to see what really floats your boat.

Thanks for the comments guys. The Koralia #2 is what was recommend to me by other RSM owners who have been up and running for a while. I thought it was too much at first, but everything seems to be reacting nicely. I have a #1 that I may switch too just to see the difference, but so far so good.

The pictures is a little decieving. Yes, there is a lot of rock in my scape, but there are a lot of holes and caves for the fish and water flow. I'll take some side shots later to show. I still think I have too much rock, but I really liked the quality of it and the shapes. Plus, I kind of like the idea of the natural filtration all this rock gives me. Who knows, I may mess with it some more later.

I'll keep a close eye on the nems and feed with caution, but so far they are doing well. Lighting is the stock RSM lighting which they claim is a total 110w of T5, but I know there is some debate on the truth to that. I know many who grow SPS and keep clams close to the top with great success under the stock lighting, so I have faith the nem will get's it's color back.

I've recently been told I went way too fast on adding the additional bubble nems to my tank so I am a little concerned, but things seem to be happy now.

I will not be adding anything else (famous last words I know) for a few months to see how everything handles the bio load. If anything I have an established 10 Gallon with not much in it right now that I could move the bubbles over to.

Thanks again.

Hoss

I would think that T-5 would be fine for the anemones. The only thing I would worry about is that your tank is fairly young and anemones usually do better in established tanks, as in 1 year plus; however, there are lots of people who have got them to thrive in younger tanks. I myself still have sps colonies I bought a little over three months after my tank was established  usually a big no-no, but they are still alive and thriving. Your lighting is definitely sufficient IMO.

I would also keep that Koralia 2 going and not switch down--definitely not too much flow but just about right for what you are trying to do. I have two modded Tunze nanostream 6025s pushing 1000 + gph in my 40 breeder. I do keep sps, which is the primary reason for that much flow, but remember that fish especially are subjected to much much higher rates of flow in the ocean. Some fish, especially tangs, really need a strong current in order to thrive in tanks.

Your tank is looking good, keep it up!

Thanks for the words and opinions Ben. I am also an Aggie....class of '02. You ever get down to Aggieland much? I try to get down for at least one football game, but it is getting harder.
