hole through anemone

I just recently got an anemone to replace my 3 year old one that got blended.

Anways the anemone seems really nice red color, but wont hold a stick. he sticks on anemone island, till i got to bed. then he falls off and ends up on the other side of the tank.

now i know anemone will move. but hes falling off the rock! lol
Also when I rescue him, I notice his mouth goes all the way through his foot! It's a hole.. I could stick a pencil though it probbably. Other then that he seems really healthy though.

Is it splitting maybe? Will the hole heal probbably?
 
I hate to be the harbinger of sorrow, but it sounds like it's dieing... When they're very sick their mouths start to gape, and it sounds like it's gaping so badly that it's literally torn itself at the foot...

It's possible it's splitting, and it's possible it'll recover, but from your description it really doesn't sound good...

I honestly hope I'm very wrong on this one, and I wish you and the 'nem the best of luck... :cry:
 
Unfortunately Serk is right. If you can see through it, it's a goner almost 100%. Sorry about that.
 
Well i'm happy to say he is doing a lot better.

What I did is put it in a little plastic container, the kind you get those little goldfish in. So he wouldn't blow around the tank.

The hole got to a size of a penny, I thought he was a gonner for sure. He looked horrible at night. Mouth all puffed out.

Now a week later it healed shut. It's mouth is now closed. And I took him out and it regained it's sticking powers. I inspected it's foot and it's all healed up. It stuck to anemone island and has been there for a few days now.
 
Sweet! This is one of those times I'm ELATED to be wrong! :wink: I hope he continues to heal up and prosper...

It really is amazing the regenerative abilities of these animals under the right conditions...
