HOB into a small refugium

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this. I started a 30 gallon five months ago and have an HOB filter that could handle a 60 gallon. Would it be possible to turn this into a small refugium? I do have carbon filter cartridges. What will I need for this?
 
You'd probably be better off using the hob filter for carbon and buying an hob refugium on Ebay for cheap. You have to build it yourself but it's way more practical, and pretty easy.

Cheap, and they come with everything you need to put it together which is pretty easy. The hardest part is waiting for the acrylic glue to dry.
 
Wow, that seems pretty simple. I just bought one after contacting the seller to see how easy it was. I read the instructions at the bottom of their page, but I needed to be reassured about it. Thanks again.
