hide and go seek trigger

I have a nigger trigger with a lion and snowflake in a FOWLR tank.
recently I noticed the Trigger is not coming out much and constantly wedged in small rocky places. He was doing just fine until a few days ago when he ate a freshwater feeder fish. I just completed a water change Sunday and i don't see any signs of ich or bites or a scrap. I will be getting my parameters checked tomorrow. any ideas?

Triggers can be very shy.... if he is breathing fine, fins moving and all that he is probably just moping about. I wouldn't worry about it unless he doesn't move at all since they can wedge themselves in and sometimes if they pass on while like that, its hard to tell if they are just hiding or are dead.

How long have you had the trigger?
The 1st month or so I had my Niger he would run and hide when I walked in the room. Now, after several months, he (or she?) comes right up to eat out of my hand and will follow my hand around in the tank while doing maint. etc.

well, whatever the cause, the trigger died last night...
tested water and everything is ok.
no signs of ich or worms on him....
who knows...
saw several nigger triggers at the store today acting the same, laying on the sand and really stressed...and some signs of de-coloration which is odd because i had mine for 3 weeks and he was acting fine...

Sorry for your loss.. sounds like you may have got a bad one. Not much you could have done for him unless you chased him out and diagnosed the problem which would have stressed him even more.
