i have seen someone post saying they bought an epoxy or putty at home depot that is reef safe
can someone plz clear this up for me
what is it called

It is sold in the glues section at Home Depot, and the packaging is a cardboard baking with a tube of putty secured to the front. I don't recall the name, but I think the item is mostly green.

I'm using the Deltec putty now, which is simply awesome. It costs more, but it is pink like coralline, stays soft for several hours, is sticky and holds onto the rock as it should - I have zero complaints so far.

I saw Aaron using it when I was in Austin, so when I went to MACNA, I made a bee-line for the Deltec booth to buy some.

The Deltec putty? Not off-hand, no. You could try contacting Doug in the Deltec forum on RC and ask him who's the local rep (if there is one at all).

The putty is called "AquaScape Contruction Putty". It comes in two parts, packaged separately unlike all the other putties I've used over the years. And according to the box, it can be used to bond glass to glass (who needs to do that? ), plastic to glass (frag rack perhaps? ), plastic to plastic...

And it can be used to "protect clams" - I don't know what that means yet. I've only had it for a week, so my experience with it is limited. They ARC/MAAST guys in Austin like it.

I use the Aquamend from Home Depot, used a tube of it today as a matter of fact. It eventually gets crusted over in coraline and looks fine. I've only had one thing I attached fall back off or come unbound. Doesn't throw the skimmer into a frenzy either, though it does make your hands smell like *ss for a time.
