Help with closed loop

Hey everyone,
I'm planning out a closed loop for my new tank, the pump will be a blueline 1100 GPH external pump.(Pressure Rated) I just order an ocean motions squirt for 4 way random flow action. Now to my question, The pump has a 3/4 intake, so could I get by with a 1" bulkhead for the intake of the closed loop? or would a 1.5" be better?

Thanks for any help

1" or 1.5" would be better than matching precisely what the pump's inlet is. The more that can go in easily, the better the pump should run.

Bigger is better. Your pump will run more efficently, quieter (maybe) and cooler! This should help it last longer :!:

i think i'd go with 1.5" bulkhead also (2" hole), because a small bulkhead fitting will increase your chance of producing micro-bubbles due to cavatation, and cavatation is bad for the pump.

Always go bigger than you think you need. You can always put a valve to turn things down if it is to much flow. But you cant redrill things if it isnt enough. Also, you never know, down the line you might want a bigger pump and need the bigger bulkhead.
