Help with broken skimmer

The pump on my DAS skimmer finally died. I've removed it and cleaned it but it just doesn't run like it should.
My sump is a DAS model with the skimmer built in, and space is really tight. I don't think replacement pumps are available any more. Most skimmers are too large to fit in the space (4.75" x 4.75").
I don't really have room to add an HOB in the sump area.
Any ideas?

Not sure what size tank you have, but I have a sca-301 that is only about 4.5'' wide. It's a good skimmer, and under $100.
 
Ideally, I could replace the pump with something comparable. Any ideas?

For anyone that is interested, I found a guy in Canada who sells a replacement model pump for $189 shipped. I also found an off-brand pump on ebay that is one-fourth of the cost so I'm going to try that first.
 
Got the new pump installed, but the bubbles are all small and never make it to the cup. I've set the gate as high as it will go. Any ideas?
