Help with AquaMedic MH fixture socket replacement

I bought this fixture ( http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem.aspx?idProduct=AQ1851 ) from Marinedepot.com in 2005. One of my sockets was burned out.
I need to replace the socket, but I encountered the problem that I can't simply remove the burned one out of its place. Does anyone know any local store do this? or if you have any ideas, suggestions, or solutions to this problem, please do advise me. I do appreciate your time in this matter. I really need to get this fix 'cause my corals are not doing too well right now. I need to get it fix ASAP. Thank y'all. Have a great day.

Here is the link again for the fixture that i bought in 2005.

The socket is a double-ended socket, correct? That section will have to be replaced, not just one side of it. Perhaps your local fish store carries the DE socket you need, or perhaps A to T Lamps has it in stock. Otherwise, you'll have to order it online.

Btw, you may want to swap bulbs around (and ballasts if possible) to rule out that the socket is bad. It might be the bulb or the ballast.

If you scroll down on this page, you'll find A to T Lamps contact information.

Yes, it is double ended socket. The metal wire that holds the bulb in place was burned. It's not the bulb, it is the socket that burned(melted, i guess this is a better terminology). It was burned big time. I dont know why it got burned, perhaps i did not push the bulb in place hard enough. I emailed the AquaMedic of N. America about it, I have to wait until Monday to see if they will reply. According on their website, the better communication is emailing them, not phone. Go figure!!! So I need to sit and wait.

I have the 48" version of your fixture and I had the same thing happen. Good luck with Aquamedic. I've emailed them in the past with no luck. Here is the part you need.

it isn't very hard to replace. Go ahead and replace both sides of the socket. I put a bulb in my new sockets and then screwed them in so they would be the correct distance apart. Just be sure to unplug it from the ballasts when you are working on it just to be on the safe side.

They used to carry a socket that didn't include the bracket for $5 less but I don't think they carry it anymore. You won't need the bracket that is sent with it.

Yes, Opus, that's it. That is the part I need. I dont know how to replace it. Would you please help me with it if I got the part?? I can pay you. I am not a handy man especially when it comes to electric stuff.

I'm not either, it was really simple. The new sockets already have the wiring in them. You just untwist the wire to the old socket and twist on the new ones and then screw the sockets where the old ones were located.
